Position Summary

The PT Parent Navigator will oversee the Parent Academy associated with the Title V grant, specializing in first in family Hispanic students.  The mission of the Academy is to educate parents by providing them with information around the importance of higher education and information about how to finish their own educational goals, outreach to the community, and navigating through the complex college process.

Job Functions

  1. Conducts workshops and information sessions for college community as well as high school students and parents on college, entrance, application, and financial aid processes.
  2. Refers students and parents to college resources that are available to assist them in the selection of career paths, colleges, and majors/certifications, financial aid, scholarships and related services and assists students in scheduling assessment and career-exploration testing.
  3. Assist students and parents in developing a course of action to become college ready by the end of the senior year.
  4. Facilitates transition of high school students into the college environment.
  5. Provides information regarding services and resources available at the college level for students with special needs adhering to ADA and 504 regulations.
  6. Coordinates workshops, prepares and gives presentations including visual aids, handouts, and manuals as needed.
  7. Assists with the promotion and registration of dual credit, on-campus events (i.e. Open House, Orientation, College Night, and College Day Visits).
  8. Coordinates recruitment and outreach activity/event details in schools, community agenices, organizations, business and industry to promote enrollment in higher education programs, which includes collaborating and coordinating with on and off campus departments.
  9. Visit the campus to promote outreach and assist students with application process.
  10. Assist with retention programs on campus and off as directed.
  11. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in a related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of general office and software applications.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze reports.
  • Possesses good organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize duties.
  • High level of customer service.
  • Ability to travel between multiple work locations (i.e. high schools and college).


Hiring Salary is $12.25/hr.

Work Schedule & Conditions

PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment with computer applications involving set-design software, lighting design software, database, phone and other general office equipment.

Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards, as well as on various off-site and on-site locations (may be indoor and/or outdoor with exposure to inclement weather).
