National Compliance is responsible for overseeing Verizon Wireless policies, processes, people and systems and partnering with business leaders to identify and mitigate financial, operational, legal, regulatory and reputational risks facing the business unit.

The data management professional will support our Compliance organization by defining and delivering data solutions for use by the Business Intelligence team. Key responsibilities include: providing recommendations and solutions for improving data accessibility, developing data management strategies, maintaining and enhancing the existing data infrastructure, and performing extraction and manipulation of data.

  • Develop and deliver database and other data-driven solutions to support business needs and drive self-service analytics.
  • Build the infrastructure and maintain scalable architectures from complex data sets across multiple platforms to enable business agility.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions for improving data accessibility across multiple data platforms.
  • Manage the SQL Server installation (SSMS/SSAS/SSIS/SSRS) used by Compliance.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define and deliver solutions for the use, extraction, manipulation, and transformation of data to make it analytically ready.
  • Identify and implement innovative technologies, methods of machine learning, and statistical models within current systems.
  • Utilize advanced technologies to support the deployment of predictive models and improve analysis of results from large data sets.
  • Continuously develop and enhance understanding of existing data infrastructure and source systems as well as new technologies, tools and methods in data architecture and BI infrastructure.
  • Provides solution and subject matter expertise to enhance the performance of enterprise level systems.
  • Oversees data governance, data integrity, data security for Compliance team.
  • Create and maintain documentation of database processes and business rules.

Qualifications

Must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Four or more years of Teradata or SQL Server database experience is required with expert skills in writing advanced SQL, creating packages, leveraging functions, building stored procedures and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Four or more years of experience in ETL tools (SSIS Preferred).
  • Four or more years of experience in data warehousing & data management.
  • Two or more years of experience in data modeling and demonstrated experience with data driven decision making.
  • Two or more years of relevant wireless industry experience is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in business intelligence tools.
  • Experience working with high volume, high velocity and high variety data such as text, log files and audio.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and influencing large teams and functional leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively analyzing and evaluating problems (Agile, DMAIC).
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel including Visual Basic for Applications.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • An advanced degree.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Certification MCSA or MCSE.
  • Experience with big data technologies like Aster, Hadoop, MapReduce, HIVE, PIG, Storm, Kafka, YARN, NoSQL, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate findings to audiences including IT peers, Business Partners and executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and with a team while executing independent decision making abilities in a fast pace environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and the ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly with a high level of curiosity while maintaining an investigative mind-set with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable familiarity with programming concepts.
  • Familiarity and experience with common data analysis and data visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, R, SAS, SPSS, Python).
  • Proven ability to plan for and manage numerous processes and ad hoc projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet customer requirements for timeliness and accuracy.
  • Passion for educational growth and learning new techniques with vigor and enthusiasm.
  • Passion for Data technologies and how they will change business.
